刻舟求劍是《呂氏春秋·察今》中记述的一则寓言和成語，說的是楚國有人坐船過河時，不慎把劍掉入河中，他在船上刻下記號，說：「這是我把劍掉下的地方。」當船停駛時，船已經走了很遠，劍是不會走動的。他還沿著記號跳入河中找劍，遍尋不獲。該寓言勸勉為政者要明白世事在變，若不知改革，就無法治國，後引伸成不懂變通、墨守成規之意。
