Pronunciation (SK Standard/Seoul) IPA(key): [ˈpa̠(ː)nɕʰiɯt̚]Phonetic hangul: [반(ː)시읃]Though still prescribed in Standard Korean, most speakers in both Koreas no longer distinguish vowel length. Noun 반시읏 • (bansieut) (North Korea, phonology) the obsolete Korean consonant ㅿ. Usage notes The Hunmin Jeongeum notes that ㅿ is a half-tooth sound pronounced like the initial sound of 穰. ㅿ used in the initial position of Chinese characters have all been changed to ㅇ in Korea today.
